How Can I Get My Pull Downs Back In AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010

When in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 you will find just above the Ribbon Tabs at the top to the left a small Toolbar. This Toolbar has a few commands on it such as Save, Open, New, Etc. To the right side of this Toolbar you will find a Drop Down.
1.) Select the Drop Down
2.) On the Drop Down Select “Show Menu Bar”
3.) Now the Pull Downs are back as they were before.

2010 Revit Deployments Issue

A problem has been identified with the way deployments are being made in the 2010 Revit products. It seems that when installs are run from deployments the APIContext.dll is not getting registered on some machines. I know, "What does that mean?" Well the result is that when you go to execute Revit, the splash screen comes up, goes away and then nothing else happens. There are two ways to correct this issue for a deployment installation.

Option #1

Install from the DVD instead of the deployment - there appears to be an issue with the registration of .dll files when they are installed from a deployment.

Option #2

Manually register the APIContext.dll file by doing the following:

1. Close Revit 2010
2. Open the Windows Command Prompt
3. Switch to the Revit MEP 2010 directory
4. Type RegSVR32 APIContext.dll
5. Close the Windows Command Prompt
6. Launch Revit 2010

Autodesk is aware of the issue and they are looking into the cause. Stay Tuned! When we know more we'll post an update.

Known Issue: Online Transfer Utility and Proxy Servers

Sometimes your Online Transfer Utility (OTU) detects you're offline. If you're not online then this is normal and necessary. The OTU requires an internet connection to temporarily house your license. Connect to the internet and you should be fine.

However, when using the OTU to transfer a standalone license from one machine to another you may receive the following message:

If you receive the message and you are connected, then this is a known issue. It only happens with some proxy servers, Autodesk is working on a resolution. Please call the National Support Center at 800-808-7645 for more details.

Joist Families Issue In Revit Structure 2009 & 2010

Recently, an issue was identified with joist families in Revit Structure 2009 & 2010. Users find that an error comes up if a joist is drawn shorter than the minimum length for a joist family. For example, say your drawing a joist using the 24LH05 joist family. The shortest valid length is 20'-0". This is because in order for the family to be valid, it requires a set of internal panels with a variable and end panel on each end, see the image below for clarification.





Though the types of panels may change from one family to another, the concept applies to ALL joist families built with panel arrays or groups, including: K-Series, LH-Series, SLH-Series, DLH-Series Bar Joists and Joist Girders.
