Need help for your 2011 Help?

With the latest release Autodesk has given us a new option for help. When you hit F1 or click the help button you will open a Web browser that accesses the help system over the internet. This method enables Autodesk to quickly change content without having to post a hotfix/update or service pack.

But what if you don't have internet access? What if your internet access is too slow? Autodesk has given us the Option to not use the web based Help.

To use the local content installed onto your hard drive:

1. Enter OPTIONS at the command line (right click command line select options).
2. Select the System tab.
3. Uncheck the box "Use online help from Autodesk website when available" (see fig. 1)
4. Click Apply, then click Ok.
5. Exit AutoCAD and re-launch it.

Now using help should pull information from your local hard drive.

Note: you will not have immediate access to the most current help content.
